Circle of Trees
The aspens in Colorado have a way of making you feel safe and comforted. The way they rise in the sky above you providing a perfect cloak. Here I captured these aspens when I was backpacking deep in the Weminuche Wilderness. Places like these don't see a lot of human traffic and hold untouched beauty.
The Details of an Aspen
Even though they all have white trunks, Colorado aspens are each unique within themselves. Here I captured the details of an aspen while I was backpacking through Lost Creek Wilderness. After a very steep climb, I came upon this hidden spot.

Surrounded by Storms
As I was setting up camp in the backcountry, this storm was moving in fast. The trees looked amazing against the moody sky and the dark clouds.
Tree in the East, Mountains in the West
This tree was sitting alone against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. The sun had just set and everything was turning down for the night. I captured this tree while hanging out of the window of my car since I was in the bison area of the park where visitors are not allowed out of their cars.
Rainbow in the Plains
It's amazing how far you can see in the eastern plains of Denver. As I was driving around the Wildlife Refuge, I noticed a rainbow in the distance under some thick clouds. It was positioned perfectly against the nearby trees and made for a bright, cheery picture.
Full of Sunflowers
Nothing is more cheerful than a picture full of sunflowers. I arrived at this sunflower field east of Denver not knowing what to expect. I was amazed by the sheer number of sunflowers that lined the fields. They were all facing east waiting for the warm sun to rise.
Aruban Sunset Over the Ocean
Although I was staying in the desert in Aruba during my visit, I escaped to the ocean for a night to watch the sunset. The ocean went on forever, the waves were gentle, and the sunset was captivating. Aruba is an island of many different colors. The waters are turquoise by day and purple by night.
Lonely Footprint in Aruba
As the waves crashed up over the sand during sunset, I noticed the footprints left behind by people were immediately being washed away. So I decided that I would quickly capture some footprints before they disappeared. Here I was only able to capture one footprint before the waves took it away forever.

This is a popular spot in Aruba at Eagle Beach. During the day, people use this tree for shade and during the sunset, people use this tree for as a gathering spot. But long afterwards as the night grows darker, this tree gets some much needed alone time.
Rocky Mountain National Park Elk
Rocky Mountain National Park is known for its majestic landscape full of snow capped mountains. It is also known for the hundreds of elks that call the park home. Here I captured two elks strolling through a grassy field with their large antlers standing out against the background.
Oh Hey There Moose
As with most moose sightings, this guy took me by surprise as he was making his way through the trees. He did not care that I was nearby and too close for comfort. I quickly captured him against the vibrant yellows and greens before turning away and finding a different trail to hike.
Branches and Snow
Even though the snow lies gently across these branches, the snow and wind were whipping around me and my camera. In the distance the Flatirons were disappearing to the snow, but here I focused on the small details right in front of me instead.
Hiking the Flatirons in the middle of a snowstorm is an experience. I was one of the only people braving the weather. Everything was so quiet. It looked like I was inside a snow globe. Here I captured the Flatirons and the surrounding trees being buried by snow.
Snowy Garden of the Gods against Pikes Peak
It's not everyday I get to witness snow at Garden of the Gods. Given the mild winters of Colorado and the warm sunshine, snow melts very quickly. Here as the sun was rising higher in the sky, Garden of the Gods shows off with a dusting of snow as it sits under Pikes Peak.
Checkered Sunrise Sky
I was in awe with these checkered looking clouds during a sunrise in Grand Teton National Park. I rolled out of my tent at 3 a.m. so I could be here at the right time. It is still one of my most memorable mornings up to this day.
Fence and Feather Sky
Here I captured the soft clouds during sunrise in Grand Teton National Park. I had been up since 3 a.m. taking pictures and this was one of the last shots I captured before the sun fully rose. The fence was the perfect subject leading my eyes to the feather sky.
Long Streak of Pink
Sunsets are always a mystery because I never know what kind of show the sky will put on. Here I captured a long, rolling cloud turning pink in Grand Teton National Park as the sun continued to set.
The mountains in Grand Teton National Park are picturesque with their jagged peaks shooting high in the sky. Here I captured the landscape changing colors with the setting sun before returning to my tent. The sky puts on a show every night in this beautiful park.

Getting up for sunrise often means that I get to watch the moon set. Here the landscape and the sky are lighting up brightly as the sun rises, but the moon decides to linger a little bit longer.
