For me, taking a road trip is all about seeing scenery like this...beautiful landscapes, the open road, and sun shining. Monument Valley Tribal Park at the border of Utah and Arizona delivered on all of these things for me. After taking this picture, I continued my road trip with the windows down, music up, and this incredible image etched in my mind.
Standing under a big, bright full moon one early morning in Stanley, Idaho, I take in the beauty of the Sawtooth Mountains before me. Their jagged peaks shoot high into the sky while the field and fence beckon for me to sit back and enjoy the view. It was an hour before sunrise, so blue hour was still showing off its beautiful early morning colors. Coyotes were beginning to howl behind me as the land got brighter with the rising sun. Soon the sun would fully be up and the day would begin, but for now I had this brief moment in time all to myself to just sit and be.
Seeing the full moon over the Badlands was a beautiful sight! My favorite part was how the Badlands reflected the colors of the sunset. Lots of blues, pinks, and purples came out after the sunset and as the moon rose. The Badlands are already a very unique landscape and seeing the moon over them was something I'll never forget!
