Marathon, Texas boasts some of the darkest skies in the country plus some of the most vibrant sunsets. I spent every evening watching the sunset and star gazing so I had an idea to capture my two favorite things about Marathon and blend them together into one picture. Deep orange covers the sky with the mountains as a perfect silhouette. A lone windmill works hard in the distance. And the night sky travels up into deep space where millions of stars twinkle. The zodiacal light can be seen in the middle of the dark sky which is light reflecting off dust particles in the Solar System known as cosmic dust. This picture shows exactly why I love Marathon so much.
While I was watching wolves and different wildlife in Hayden Valley in Yellowstone National Park, a full moon made a beautiful appearance on the horizon. The sun had already set and blue hour was in full effect. Colorful hues surrounded me in every direction. The green meadow was sprawled out before me, but the bluebells were the flowers that caught my attention the most. The vibrant blue petals glowed under the full moon and beckoned me to lay down on the soft earth while daydreaming. I combined two photos of this scenery in order to bring the image to life.
With sand between my toes, I make my way to the beach in Florida to watch the sunrise. These tall dune grasses caught my attention as they swayed gently in the breeze against a brightening sky.
